We have updates on Art Parties, a Creative Writing Contest, and Call for Photographs to be in the Phoenix of Phillips, our neighborhood literary journal. We look forward to seeing you and hearing from you soon in this hopeful Spring!
Art Parties
Next Wednesday, April 7, 5:30-7pm Semilla Center will host the 2nd Neighborhood Art Party. We will be making lanterns again, designing Signs of Hope, getting to know each other and talking about our neighborhood. Free Lantern Kits for the second party can be picked up on Monday, April 5, 4-6pm at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 2742 15th Ave. S. Beginning in June, the Art Parties will be happening each week on Wednesday evenings at various locations in Midtown Phillips. Stay tuned for more information about that.
The lanterns we are making and will be making all summer long are to remind each other that we are here for each other, keeping a light on for each other, in good and hard times. We are putting the lanterns on our porches and in our windows on Wednesday evenings.

Creative Writing Contest

Call for Photographs
The Phoenix of Phillips is calling for images! We are looking for images of the Phillips neighborhood, Lake street, and surrounding areas. These can be images of the beauty we see in our neighborhood as well as the pain/hurt we’ve seen. If your images are used we will make sure to add your name so make sure to let us know the name you’d like to be shown. Email your images to semillacenter@gmail.com with the subject line “The Phoenix of Phillips images”
